Consolidation of the Disruptive Hospitals Congress of the COIIM, with AI as the protagonist

COIIM Hospitales Disruptivos 2024Sisemed has attended the second edition of the Disruptive Hospitals Congress, which is consolidating itself as a must-attend event for healthcare innovation managers. It is an event promoted by the Medical and Health Engineering Commission of the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid (COIIM) and the Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid.

During the two days of the congress, the main references from the administration, hospitals, the medtech industry, and healthcare providers have met to share experiences and the main innovative projects that are currently being carried out in our country. Artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing, and IoMT are some of the main areas where new products and services have been presented.

Bioengineering has once again occupied an important space in the debate forums, and the need to value the work of engineers specializing in medical equipment and healthcare facilities has been emphasized. Biomedical engineers, bioinformaticians, industrial engineers, and biomedical technicians are key figures in healthcare organizations, and although they are increasingly recognized, it is difficult for them to participate in decision-making systems.

"The figure of the resident internal engineer that has been presented is very interesting," says José Antonio Rodríguez Leyva, General Director of Sisemed and member of the Medical and Health Engineering Commission of the COIIM, "to ensure that the technical professionals who join healthcare organizations understand how a center really works and the operations they will have to adapt to."
